Student Survey Responses to 2016 South Africa Trip
This was a phenomenal trip which I believe has truly impacted my life.
I learned so many important life lessons, and I will never take what I have for granted anymore!
I think this trip means the future to me. Not just my future, but the world's future. there are so many people who are like me who didn't know what to do to help people in need, and with one point of a finger and the simple act of saying, please do that, someome can paint a wall. And if someone can paint a wall, then a town can build a house, and if a town can build a house, the world can save it's self.
I am very happy I went on this trip. I was uncertain in the begining and now I see why others have gone too. The trip was fantastic and I really see the things I can do to help people in need.
What an amazing experience. So great to meet and travel with new friends, be pushed out of my comfort zone and be able to add value to a community in so much need.
I really enjoyed my trip to South Africa. I loved upgrading the pre-schools and interacting with the local kids. The accomidations were much nicer than I expected. Everyone on the trip was really nice and everyone got along super well. I honestly wish that the trip was longer.
I have still not quite digested the experiences from this trip. We had a wonderful time and I feel that we made a positive impact on the community. Lucas and Leona along with their family are such amazing people.
This trip was so meaningful to me. It definitely changed my perspective. I knew that a trip like this would change my perspective at least a little, but i had no idea i would feel so different about so many things. I matured in so many ways and it makes this trip opened my eyes to my own fortune and how lucky i am to have the resources i do.
I will forever be aware of my actions and how priveleged I am.
I will never take things like school, family, food, or clothing for granted ever again! I really appreciate all I have now! I think, at least I hope, this trip will have a lasting affect on me!
I am forever changed by this trip. I was so nervous and excited about traveling so far. I also did not know exactly what it would be like or what I would see. I am so blessed to have been a part of such an amazing group of people, who worked so hard and selflessly to add value to the community of Tembisa. I am honored to be able to call Lucas, Leona and their family my new friends as well as many that I met on the trip. I will be more grateful for the thing I have and try not to complain about small discomforts that I encounter in my life.
This trip changed how I view my own life and issues that I face on a daily basis. Ultimately I have realized how lucky I am to have the life that I do. I think that I will live my life as a more aware person and I won't take for granted the things that most people overlook.
This trip impacted me in so many ways. I am humbled and grateful for all that living in America means. I need to spend time working to understand the political situation in South Africa. I appreciate having a glimpse into a different culture and being allowed to have a tiny impact on the people of the township. I loved working with the students (for the most part) Thank you for this incredible opportunity to serve.
