For International Day of the Girl, ODFL supported an outreach program to encourage girls in the Ivory Coast to stay in school. In some areas, less than 2% of girls finish secondary school. Most leave school to marry early or work. The program included local women who act as mentors and role models, explaining to the girls the benefits of staying in school. The girls who attended the program received a colorful bag including washable, reusable sanitary supplies as well as other personal hygiene items.
ODFL has been keeping girls in schools by distributing, free of charge to the girls, washable sanitary supplies. To read more about ODFL’s Girls’ Equality Program, click here.
