Women in Nepal get water from stream
Women get water from stream

ODFL, in partnership with the Little Sisters Fund, will help fund the construction of a concrete water reservoir and tap.  Currently there are two villages that are fully dependent on a small water spring.  The villagers have to walk 30 minutes each way to carry water from the local water source.

The existing water source has two problems:  in the rainy season, the water becomes polluted by mud and runoff and is no longer potable.  In the summer months, the source dries up completely, leaving the villagers with no water at all and having to have it brought in by vehicle, which is very expensive.

The construction of a concrete water reservoir and tap will prevent the water from exposure to dirt and provide storage so water will be available during the dry season.  Local villagers will contribute all of the labor to help keep costs low.
